1980 - Beginning of a Great Dream

HSR was established in 1980 as Hap Seng Realty when Datuk Lau Gek Poh and Helen Lau founded the company with Kellie Lim as the first Executive Director. They were passionate about building a great and dynamic company.
Seeds of the dream were sowed when the founders, together with their network of high nett worth clients, invested in real estate. They realized that the standard and quality of real estate services can be improved.

1989 - Growth of a Leader
Within a short period of time, HSR grew into a 100-strong professional boutique real estate practice. They were the leader amongst firms that retained agents on a basic allowance plus commission basis.
From just marketing high-end landed properties, they diversified into all the major sectors of the market. In 1989, the company started to market international property investments from all over the world, including USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, and around the region.
1992 - Rebranding
In 1992, they rebranded themselves as HSR to reflect their leadership in the market. According to a Fuji-Xerox sponsored report, HSR marketed more properties from all over the world to Asians than any other company.
2000 - First CEO of HSR
In 2000, HSR initiated a strategic alliance of 10 licenced agencies together with more than 50 groups of agents. As a recognized leader of the network, HSR owned 60% of the new company through a nominated trustee.
Patrick Liew, HSR’s director coined the name of the network and the logo was designed by the HSR team. One of the HSR managers was appointed as the first CEO of the company.
2003 - Rising to the Challenge
After working closely with the new partners, HSR found it difficult to accept and work with their business ethos, principles, and team spirit. In 2003, HSR painfully decided to leave the ‘baby’ that was birthed through difficult labour and upbringing.
They decided to start HSR afresh. It was a tough challenge. But even tougher yet, the property market was going through a slump.
HSR rose to the challenge.
2003 - Rebirth of a Giant
HSR chose to see problems as opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve better results. The leaders searched their hearts and asked themselves,“How can HSR be a great company?”
Through the pain and sorrow of the Asian crisis, a phoenix rose from the ashes.
2007 - Fastest Growing Agency
While many companies were tightening their belts, HSR confronted the fury of the bull and became 'The fastest growing agency' (SELLING Magazine). HSR was the first and only company in the industry to win the prestigious Golden Brand Award.
HSR also became 'The largest (Singapore Book of Records) and best real estate company' (Singapore Property News) and the '#1 real estate company' (MLMIA).
